Marathon weekend in Freddy
Marathon weekend means the whole town pulls on its sneakers, or at least cheers from the sidewalk. Add Guys and Dolls at the Playhouse, a rock and gem show downtown, and Mother's Day on Sunday. Three loaded days. Let's go.

Featured Friday Business
Picaroons Traditional Ales
The brewery on the river that turns marathon weekend into a celebration.
If you've crossed the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge, you've seen Picaroons' Roundhouse on the north end — a historic CN railroad roundhouse turned taproom, with long communal tables, big windows on the St. John River, twenty-plus rotating taps, and pub food designed to drink with. After 26.2 miles on Sunday, this is exactly where you want to be. Live music most weekends, family-friendly, dog-friendly on the patio. The original brewery at 912 Union still pours the classics — Yippee IPA, Best Bitter, Dooryard — and they're a Fredericton institution since 1995. Locally owned, traditionally brewed, properly poured.

Isaac's Way Restaurant
649 Queen Street, Uptown
Mother's Day brunch destination. Local, seasonal, art on every wall (proceeds go to local artists). Book ahead for Sunday — they will be packed.
Boulangerie Seoul
Korean-French bakery worth knowing about — kouign-amann, croissants, and Korean cream buns under one roof. Marathon-morning fuel or Mother's Day picnic spread.
