Kings Place Mall
Kings Place is downtown Fredericton's indoor shopping centre, a 290,000 square foot complex at 440 King Street made up of two office towers connected by ground-level retail. Built in 1974 by the Hardman Group and renovated in 2001, it remains the only enclosed shopping option in the downtown core, which counts for a lot in a New Brunswick January. The concourse holds more than 30 shops and services, anchored by long-standing tenants like Shoppers Drug Mart and Dollarama, along with banking, food court counters, and professional services that serve the office crowd upstairs. It also works as a practical downtown hub in two other ways: Fredericton Transit runs a major transfer station along King Street at its doorstep, and the building has an attached parking structure with roughly 417 spaces. Be honest with your expectations. Retail here has thinned since the mid-2010s and some units sit vacant, so this is not a destination mall like Regent Mall uptown; it is a weekday errand stop, a warm cut-through, and the place downtown workers grab a prescription or lunch. If you are driving downtown for an appointment on King or Queen Street, the Kings Place garage is one of the easier covered parking options, and you can walk the concourse indoors instead of circling the block in the weather.
