Fredericton Yacht Club
The Fredericton Yacht Club is a small, member-operated sailing and boating club at 363 Lincoln Road, on the Saint John (Wolastoq) River just outside the city core. It serves cruisers, racers, and day sailors with both sailboats and powerboats, and describes itself as a friendly club suited to new and experienced boaters alike. It runs as a self-help marina, meaning members pitch in to operate the club rather than paying for full-service staff, which keeps it social and keeps costs down. Membership comes with real utility: dock space on the river in Fredericton, a yard with winter boat storage and lift services, and access to the club's satellite facility at Douglas Harbour on Grand Lake, one of the best cruising grounds in the Maritimes. Racing is a big part of club life, with a Wednesday Night Series and several trophy and cup races through the season, alongside organized social cruises for members who would rather gunkhole than compete. A few practical notes from the club's own rules: annual dues are payable by October 1, and proof of insurance is required before the club will lift your boat. If you keep a boat in the Fredericton area and want river access plus a route down to Grand Lake, this is the local institution built for exactly that. The club can be reached at commodore@fyc.ca.
